Friends Forever: Part One

By Teequan Lewis

It all started when little Timmy Howard was seven; he had been in elementary school for two years now and had yet to meet a single friend. He was an average kid with short black hair and deep green eyes. His mother was a bank clerk and his father was a forensic detective for the Acrewood Heights Police Department. Technically, Timmy was an only child but he was born a twin; his brother who was born first had failed to thrive after only two short months of life; because of their tragic loss Timmy’s parents were always overprotective of him. He was only allowed to play kick-ball with Amy Stewart, his next door neighbour who seemed to be particularly fond of eating her ear wax. Continue reading “Friends Forever: Part One “

How will the Cleveland Cavaliers fair in their playoff games to come?

By Joe Darmiento

Coming in to the season, the Cleveland Cavaliers had a lot of hype to live up to.  Although they had a rocky start, hovering at about a .500 win-loss ratio,  the “Cavs” mustered up the strength to carry themselves through the season, ending in 2nd place in the Eastern Conference.  Their success transferred over to the playoffs, where they beat the Boston Celtics in a 4-0 sweep.  But with the emerging problems involving players on the team, and the threat of other teams that the Cavalier’s could face, how far can they make it in the playoffs? Continue reading “How will the Cleveland Cavaliers fair in their playoff games to come?”

Loud

By Kiera Bertrand

Some say I’m quiet

but there is little they know about me

All they see is what’s on the outside

and not what’s really there

They are about to find out

that what they see

isn’ really me because

underneath all my clothes and skin

is one vibrant voice Continue reading “Loud”

The “Blues” Have Struck St. Louis Again

By Xavier Alonso

“For the third straight year, it’s one and done for the St. Louis Blues.”

Jobs may be on the line after coach Ken Hitchcock’s team won the Central Division but fell flat in the playoffs in a six-game opening-round loss to the Minnesota Wild. The Blues had believed this was their best chance at winning the franchise’s first Stanley Cup with four strong lines, solid defense and good to great goaltending. Continue reading “The “Blues” Have Struck St. Louis Again”

The Bloody Beginning

An Alfred Mason short story by V. S. Cooper.

It was a dark and cold evening. I was just leaving the local pub, when I heard sirens blazing in the distance. Naturally, I went to investigate, only to be stopped by a constable. “Stop!” he shouted. “I can’t in good conscience let you through” However, a good detective always carries his credentials. “My apologies sir. Can’t have the riff raff come here, now can ya,” the man said in a rather jockular matter. “Go right ahead DI Mason,” said he, and so, I went, into the gloom of the unknown, unsure of what I would find.

Are You My Friend?

By Jaqueline Flores

What is the real meaning of a true friend?…  a person who you talks to once in a while, who only texts you when they’re bored?  A person that only talks to in school, but acts as if they don’t know you outside of school? Someone who only hangs out with you for fun,  to go out and party every weekend and pressures you to do things you know you aren’t supposed to do?  Or, is a true friend someone who’s not only there for you at your best but is also by your side at your worst?  I believe that a true friend is that one person who will be there right by your side when things are going downhill in your life, when nothing seems right but their presence makes everything better.   Continue reading “Are You My Friend?”

Transformation of the Modern Car

By Dylan Fiscus

It’s hard to believe the first car came out in 1908. Henry Ford designed an economical way for people to get around and it only cost $875.00. The car had two forward gears, 20 horsepower engine, and had no drivers door. Ford did exactly what he set out to do, which was build a car that most people could afford. He was able to do this by the invention of the assembly line which helped to keep prices low. Continue reading “Transformation of the Modern Car”

When talking about football it’s safe to say that you’ve heard someone say, the Dallas Cowboys are “America’s Team”. Well, America is full of front runners if I ever saw some. Build Your Own Computer: Part Three

Nick Dodd

So close now; all that’s left is to just install that operating system (OS)! Now there’s probably no need for going over the operating system’s available as the most popular ones are gone over in part 1. But briefly put, Windows is compatible with a lot of programs, Mac OS is good for making movies and using various medias, and Linux is the free alternative that is reasonably good in many aspects. Also if you hadn’t done so yet, plug in your mouse, keyboard, monitor, and whatever else you have. Continue reading “Build Your Own Computer: Part Three”

Lebron’s Chance For Another Ring

By Matthew Mazzella

At the beginning of the season the Cleveland Cavaliers were suspected to be great, although they were also thought the have struggles with their teammate chemistry. In the beginning of the season the chemistry was weak. More games were being lost. Too many easy shots missed due to the fact of not knowing how the team could play as a whole. Of course, the chemistry would take a little bit of time to build up, but once it has they have competed with absolute greatness! Continue reading “Lebron’s Chance For Another Ring”
