“Why are you so quiet?”
I hear kids ask this question a lot. I’m not really that quiet if I get to know you, or if I am comfortable around you,or if I’m just in a more talkative mood. What I don’t understand is why people think being quiet is a bad thing.
How is it a bad thing? Continue reading “Pros and Cons of Being Quiet”

I own this heart without a host because you left my side when I needed you most. Even when you left me to die after I broke down to pieces, I still wear the old shirt you left besides all the creases. Continue reading “I Own This Heart”

Nowadays it is hard to live in the teenage world. Having to deal with popularity, school, social life and your personal issues can be very tough.
Popularity varies within schools, but it is overall the same concept. Continue reading “An Ordinary Teenager”

My name is Megan Marie Bertrand. I look normal and I talk normal, but I am not normal. I have Cerebral Palsy. It’s a condition where part of my brain did receive oxygen when I was born so some of it what damaged. My parents used to tell me that I had a bruise on my brain to make it sound better. Now I know it sounds bad, but I was one of the luckier ones. Besides normal is boring anyway. I can still talk and walk and function although it took awhile for me to get where I am. Is homework a good idea to give students over the weekend? Some think that kids need the extra work to do to keep their brains thinking. Don’t you think 7 hours of school, 5 days a week is enough? Continue reading “Weekend Homework A Good Idea?”

When you’re a teenager, you go through the most difficult situations. Being a teen is very hard. Between the heartbreaks, a death of a loved one, divorce, bullies, abuse, drugs… we are trying to make the right decisions through hard times so we can forget and not feel pain.
One of the hardest things to face as a teen is bullying. Others like to put another person down because it makes them feel powerful. Others often tend to bring others down and tell them that they’re “not good enough” and “ugly”. When you hear those words every day, over and over again, you start to repeat in your head like a song that’s on repeat and soon enough, you’ll start believing that you are “ugly” and “not good enough”. Nowadays, students are expected to fit in loads of homework/studying, a social life, sports/activities,etc into their schedules. I don’t think people realize the stress that puts on us students.
We wake up at 6:00 am and go to school for around 6 hours. That should be enough itself, but, no, we have all these other expectations to fulfill. We are told to get involved in a ton of clubs and sports because it looks good for college applications. Well, those clubs take up about an hour and sports 2-4 or more hours. Continue reading “School: A Major Cause Of Stress For Students”
By Victoria Alonso Do you think you have it hard? Try being a student athlete in high school: being in school longer than 7 hours, having to attend practice after school, traveling places to play games and getting home late and realizing you have homework to do. Most serious student athletes go to school every … Continue reading Student Athletes Vs. Students

“Follow me on Instagram, Follow me on twitter, add me on kik or facebook or snapchat”.
Everyone knows how it is utterly uncommon to find people without at least one of these apps. Why? Because everyone wants to be in the now, part of the the new technology, part of the interconnected world that everyone seems to be living in. Being caught up in this prevents one thing, thinking straight or deeply. We all want to be accepted in society, and sometimes being desperate enough to be willing to do anything but that displays a different outlook. Continue reading “Follow Me”

You adjust the lighting… you add a filter… you fix your hair.. until finally you take a picture okay enough to post. You look at the … Continue reading Are Selfies As Normal As You Think?
By Hannah Beckerle Ever since the first day of school, we have all strived to be what is considered “cool” or “popular.” Growing up, we have put up this mask to cover up our true selves, hiding who we really are so that we could fit in. Many people would choose to be popular or … Continue reading Struggling To Fit In

At least one point during their teenage years, teenagers have wondered why nobody can understand them. Sometimes it feels like teenagers are their own species and they speak a completely different language. As a teenager myself, I am in the middle of these struggles, along with the rest of the adolescent world.
Where do we stand? Are we children? Are we adults? We seem to be in a center of our own universe that nobody but teenagers themselves can simply relate to. Continue reading “Teenagers: A Common Misunderstanding”
